This program begins at Kiruna Airport where guests are greeted by guides from Fjellborg Arctic Journeys. After a short transfer you arrive at the beautifully situated Homestead in Poikkijärvi where the Fjellborg family live together with their large pack of friendly huskies. During a welcome lunch you are briefed on the expedition itinerary and introduced to the basics of sled dog mushing. Next you will change into expedition gear, re-pack your equipment and get ready to meet the dogs! The Fjellborg Alaskan Huskies are exceptionally friendly and athletic and know nothing better than to hit the trails together with their team mates.
In the afternoon we set out on our excursion, sledding in a south-easterly direction, towards the rustic Jäkkälä Hunting Cabin. Here we stop for an overnight break, relaxing in the traditional sauna and enjoying dinner together before falling asleep in cosy cabins which are nestled among the trees in a peaceful setting.
After a hearty breakfast on the morning of our second day we feed our dogs and get ready to continue the journey. Today's destination is our new home away from home, the Sevuvouma Lodge, which has the atmosphere of a traditional Lapland home and all the comforts of a modern wilderness retreat. Its beautiful setting, right beneath the magnificent Vittangivaara Fell, creates a true “last outpost” experience. During our stay at the Sevuvouma Lodge we will dine and sleep in a delightful environment and enjoy the best sauna in Lapland!
On our third day we will head towards the Fjellborg Wilderness Lodge which is situated by the scenic Lake Väkkärä. We travel along pristine wilderness trails and there is a good chance we will encounter moose, reindeer or other wildlife along the way. At Väkkärä we'll spend quality time in the large main building before retiring to our private log cabins. On clear nights the amazing Aurora Borealis often provides spectacular evening entertainment - don't forget to bring your camera!
On the last morning of our expedition we set out in a westerly direction, with the Fjellborg Homestead as our destination. On our way home we will stop to enjoy a tasty lunch served in the wild. When we arrive at the Homestead it is time to say farewell to our amazing dogs. The program is completed in the early afternoon and guests who are departing from Kiruna Airport on the same day will receive a transfer to the airport.
It is worth noting that the world famous ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi is situated only a few minutes away. A popular choice among our guests is to add a few extra days to their holiday in Lapland by including a visit to nearby ICEHOTEL.

This comfortable 4-day sled dog excursion is suitable both for novice and experienced mushers.
We offer our guests true wilderness travel at its best, without compromising their safety and comfort. A thorough introduction to sled dog driving will be provided before departure and our experienced guides will be available at all times for support and instruction.
