Drive your own team on our most remote expedition which takes you from the heart of Lapland to Europe’s northernmost point; The North Cape by the Arctic Ocean. During a 600km long journey you will mush through Sweden, Finland and Norway and experience some of the finest attractions in Lapland. The program ends with a full day onboard the legendary Hurtigruten cruise liner heading for the Norwegian city of Tromsø. 13-day program.

This unique program begins at Kiruna Airport where guests are greeted by guides from Fjellborg Arctic Journeys. After a short transfer you arrive at the beautifully situated Homestead in Poikkijärvi where the Fjellborg family live together with their large pack of friendly huskies. During a welcome lunch you are briefed on the expedition itinerary and introduced to the expedition guides. Next you will change into expedition gear, re-pack your equipment and get ready to meet your dog team. The Fjellborg Alaskan Huskies are exceptionally friendly and athletic and know nothing better than to hit the trails together with their team mates.

The initial leg of our journey takes us from the Homestead in Poikkijärvi to the comfortable Fjellborg Wilderness Lodge by Lake Väkkärä, 15 km further north. On the first night of our expedition many of us find it hard to sleep as we are excited about the major journey that lies ahead.

During the following days we will sled through northern parts of Swedish and Finnish Lapland along a stretch of the newly established Arctic Trail which connects Sweden with Finland and Russia. From Finland we cross into Arctic Norway where we explore the town of Kautokeino which is an important cultural centre for the Sami people of northern Norway.

After Kautokeino our trail climbs to higher altitudes and we enjoy several days of exciting sledding in a magnificent alpine terrain. Our accommodation ranges from camping out along the trail to staying in cosy mountain huts and at comfortable hotels. After many days surrounded by white expanses the sudden appearance of the blue Arctic Ocean comes as a surprise. As the trail descends towards the coast villages of Arctic Norway the scenery changes remarkably.

Before we reach the goal of our expedition we enjoy a short sea journey together with our dogs. Our arrival at the North Cape is a truly memorable moment. While our dogs receive a comfortable ride back to the Homestead we celebrate in style on the last evening of our sledding expedition. The next morning we embark on a sea voyage onboard the legendary Hurtigruten which takes us from Honningsvåg to the lively city of Tromsø. Here, in “The Paris of the North” the 13-day program comes to an end. However, Tromsø offers a range of activities and attractions which participants can enjoy before departing from Tromsø airport.
